She Sells Sanctuary Drums

A fantastic song, and a great way to start your grade 2 journey.

It's mainly a simply 8th note groove, which you should be very confident with by the time you get to grade two, so the main sections should cause too much trouble.

Getting back to our song, there are a couple of tricky parts -

The fills -

there are only two of these really in She Sells Sanctuary for Drums with Trinity so make sure to play them the same every time so they get into your muscle memory nice and quickly. I recommend the sticking I use in the video.

The flams -

practise these separately till happy. You can check out more on flams here:

Then there is the really cool Flam, Kick, Kick, Flam, Kick, Kick, Flam section which just sounds so, so good!

And finally the crashes at the end. These will also need a little practice to get them good.

I always recommend looping any sections you want to work on rather than playing through the whole piece to get there. 'Chunk' the difficult sections, get them perfect, then play the whole song with them in.
