More than Instrument Lessons

Goffen Music Schools helps schools build a broad, connected musical offer. We provide professional tutors and coordinate tuition, First Access, bands and ensembles, recognised grade pathways and performances.

Provision is shaped around your school. That could mean introducing instrumental lessons, widening the opportunities already available, creating group music-making or giving pupils more meaningful ways to share their progress.

We coordinate the practical elements with schools, tutors and families so that separate activities become part of one joined-up musical journey.

Provision Shaped Around Your Pupils

Instrument Tuition

Individual, paired and group lessons can be arranged across a range of instruments where suitable tutors are available. Pupils can learn for enjoyment, develop personal goals or prepare for recognised graded music examinations.

First Access or Whole-Class Learning

Whole-class and group instrumental learning can help more children experience making music together. Goffen Music Schools can discuss suitable First Access provision and help schools understand relevant current Music Hub routes.

Bands, Ensembles and Music Projects

Group music-making connects lessons with wider school life. Bands, ensembles and projects give pupils opportunities to listen, collaborate, build musicianship and work towards a shared outcome.

Progression and Recognised Grades

Pupils can follow a pathway that suits them, whether they are learning for enjoyment or working towards a recognised grade. Goffen Music Schools supports exam preparation and celebrates pupils’ achievements within school.

After-School Clubs

Music-based after-school clubs can be added to a school’s provision, subject to tutor availability. The format can be discussed around pupil interest, the space available and the school’s wider musical aims.

Performance is Part of the Journey

From Lessons to Shared Achievement

Performance is a deliberate part of the Goffen Music Schools approach—not an occasional extra. It gives pupils something meaningful to work towards and creates opportunities to share their progress with classmates, families and the wider school community.

Every Term

Every school is offered a performance opportunity each term, helping pupils work towards a meaningful goal and share their progress.

Summer Performance

Pupils may also have opportunities to take part in the multi-school summer performance, bringing pupils, families and school communities together.

Christmas Event

Goffen Music Schools is planning its first multi-school Christmas event for December 2026, combining a shared performance opportunity with fundraising.

We are delighted to work with ... Goffen Music Schools, who deliver high-quality tuition in drums, guitar, and piano here at King's Gate Primary School. Their lessons are consistently well-structured, engaging and tailored to meet the individual needs of each pupil. They have an excellent rapport with students of all ages and abilities, fostering both confidence and a genuine enthusiasm for music.

The teachers demonstrate strong classroom organisation, professionalism and reliability, ensuring that lessons run smoothly within the school timetable. Their ability to teach multiple instruments to a high standard has been a valuable asset to our music provision, contributing positively to pupils’ musical progress and overall enjoyment of learning.

We highly value their contribution and would confidently recommend them as an outstanding peripatetic music teachers.”

Access, Inclusion and Wider Development

Helping more children participate in music through inclusive programmes, bursary support and relevant Music Hub opportunities.

Growth Through Music
Programme

Music is the Vehicle, Not the End Goal

Growth Through Music is a new charity-supported Goffen Music Schools programme beginning in September 2026. It uses group music-making to support selected children with SEN, with intended outcomes including engagement, confidence, resilience, relationships and participation within school.

Current charitable funding enables participating schools to receive free provision for selected children during the initial two-year programme. Children’s and school staff’s experiences will be evaluated so that future claims and development are grounded in evidence.

Bursary and Access

Through fundraising, Goffen Music Schools has established a small bursary intended to subsidise a limited number of lesson places. Availability will depend on the funds available and discussions with schools about allocation.

Music Hub Routes - GSW Music Hub

As an Associate Organisation of the Gloucestershire, Swindon & Wiltshire Music Hub, Goffen Music Schools can help Wiltshire schools explore relevant current routes for First Access, eligible pupil bursaries, instrument hire and other grants.

Funding and support are subject to the Hub’s current criteria, budgets, application processes and availability.
