Working with SEN children in Schools
The project working with schools and with the SEN-Co in providing opportunities for children through music over 2 years.
Year 1 will be focussing on a term at each school, with year 2 being a full academic year.
Children will have the opportunity to learn and perform a song as an ensemble / band over 10 lessons.
You will need to plan and teach these lessons, support the children during them and in a final performance for the school.
Main Points
Pay
The rate the charity has agreed to is £30 p/h, with 3 hours of prep time at the start of the project - term 1 - to choose songs and to create arrangements taking into consideration learning needs.
The same plan can then be reused in different terms in different schools, minimising prep time workload.
Lesson Format
2 30 minute sessions with 4 or 5 children. Teaching 2 songs - 1 to each group - these can be repeated in other schools you are teaching in.
There will be teacher support in the sessions so you can focus on the music.
Performance
There will be a performance at the end of each term at each school, to which school staff, parents and students will be invited, where you would need to attend to support the children.
Evaluation
You will be expected to keep records of planning, aims and goals, lessons taught, and evaluate the impact of the lessons with a simple pre and post questionnaire.
